IMPORTANT PRODUCT NOTICE FOR TORNATECH FIRE PUMP CONTROLLERS

Important Product Notice for Tornatech Fire Pump Controllers

Dear Valued Customer,

Due to the recent changes to the FM Standard for Fire Pump Controllers, we have had to make some changes to both our Electric and Diesel Fire Pump Controllers. As you will see in this document, the changes are minor. We have also taken the liberty to make a few minor changes to the product ourselves which are also described below. The changes are effective immediately.

Changes to GPx Series Electric Fire Pump Controllers

Changes imposed by latest FM Standard

Controller must now visually indicate if it is a non-automatic controller or an automatic controller. Our controller will indicate this with the letter "N" for non-automatic controller or the letter "A" for automatic controller. This indication will appear at the end of the first line (first from top) of the top digital display.
Controller must now visually indicate if it is set-up for manual shutdown or automatic shutdown. Our controller will indicate this with the letter "M" for manual shutdown or the letter "A" for automatic shutdown. This indication will appear at the end of the first line (first from top) of the bottom digital display.
Controller must now visually indicate if it is a pressure actuated controller or a non-pressure actuated controller. Our controller will indicate this with the letter "P" for pressure actuated or the letter "N" for non-pressure actuated. This indication will appear at the end of the second line (second from top) of the top digital display.

Changes By Tornatech

A "Disable Start Jumper" will now be installed across terminals TB10-7 and TB10-8 in order to disable automatic starting of the fire pump during start up procedures. This jumper must be removed in order for the automatic starting (pressure drop) of the fire pump to function.
The STOP pushbutton will now stop the pump/motor if the pressure is not re-established. The pump/motor will re-start upon releasing the STOP pushbutton if the pressure is not re-established.
Remote Start. The remote start terminal will now we named "Remote Manual Start" and shall be used for manual start devices such as a remote pushbutton.
Deluge Valve Start: The deluge valve start will now be named "Remote Automatic Start" and shall be used for automatic start devices such as a deluge valve.

Changes to Model GPD Diesel Engine Driven Fire Pump Controllers

Changes imposed by latest FM Standard

Controller must now visually indicate if it is a non-automatic controller or an automatic controller. Our controller will indicate this with the letter "N" for non-automatic controller or the letter "A" for automatic controller. This indication will appear at the end of the first line (first from top) of the digital display.
Controller must now visually indicate if it is set-up for manual shutdown or automatic shutdown. Our controller will indicate this with the letter "M" for manual shutdown or the letter "A" for automatic shutdown. This indication will appear at the end of the second line (second from top) of the digital display.
The solenoid valve is now required to be a Normally Closed 2-way valve instead of a 3-way valve.
The sensing line connection at the fire pump controller must now be 1/2"compatible instead of 1/4" compatible.
Controller will now be powered by the AC power in case of a loss of DC battery power.
The engine contactor coil will now be monitored by our controller and a Loss of Continuity alarm will appear if this situation appears.

Changes By Tornatech

Model GPD controllers are now supplied with NEMA 2 enclosures as standard.
The STOP pushbutton will now stop the pump/motor if the engine was started manually through the manual crank pushbuttons.
Remote Start. The remote start terminal will now we named "Remote Manual Start"and shall be used for manual start devices such as a remote pushbutton.
Deluge Valve Start: The deluge valve start will now be named "Remote Automatic Start"and shall be used for automatic start devices such as a deluge valve.
